Yep, I remember thinking that during my healing journey. That one day I would just get to the place where I would no longer experience any pain. That all things would be good.
Then it hit me
Life was still happening, I was still being triggered, I was still experiencing some of the pain that happen 5-6 years ago. I couldn't believe it. I had done all that work, years of therapy, years of self-inquiry and reconnection back to SELF.
Why was I still experiencing those moments?
I read something one day that said "The healing journey isn't linear and that is okay" then it clicked that the healing journey isn't a destination. You don't just arrive to the place where there are no more feelings, no more pain, no more triggers. You become aware of when you are being triggered. You learn strategies and coping mechanisms to help you along the way so that when life happens. When you are triggered, you're ready to take your healing to a whole new level. You're ready to face the day, armored and ready.
It reminds me of the verse, "Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to withstand the wiles of the devil" Ephesians 6:11
So, all the work that I do now, the prayer, the devotion, the breathwork, the meditation, the yoga are all tools that help me be prepared. It's my armor, my shield so that when the crazy of life happens, I am protected, I am healed, I am able to be withstand the test of times.
So don't be discouraged, don't give up, no that your labor, your work, what you're doing right now is not in vain.
What is included in your armor? What things will you put inside your toolbox so that when triggers happen, you're ready?
Comment below to help others fill their toolbox.
With love
